How to Hang Your Art at the Perfect Height

A beautifully framed piece deserves to be displayed at the right height! Here’s a quick rule of thumb:

Single Artwork: The center of your piece should be 57"–60" from the floor (eye level for most people).
Above Furniture: If hanging above a sofa or console, place the frame 6"–8" above the surface to create balance.
Gallery Walls: Start by positioning the largest frame first and build around it. Maintain 2"–4" spacing between frames for a cohesive look.

Tips for Creating a Stunning Gallery Wall

  1. Plan it out first! Lay your frames on the floor to arrange the layout before making any holes.
  2. Mix frame styles for an eclectic, collected-over-time feel—or keep them uniform for a clean, modern look.
  3. Use painter’s tape to map out your arrangement on the wall before committing to nails.
  4. Keep spacing consistent (2"–4" between frames is ideal).
  5. Add a personal touch! Mix in mirrors, wall sculptures, or vintage pieces for more depth.

Final Framing & Hanging Tips

  • Matting matters! A mat adds elegance and gives breathing room to your art. Choose a thick white mat for a gallery feel or opt for no mat for a modern, full-frame look.
  • Consider non-glare glass. If your art will be near a window, this helps reduce reflections.
  • Command strips are great for renters! Skip the nails and go for removable adhesive strips when needed.
