Proper wall preparation is one of the most important steps for a successful wallpaper installation.

Before installing your wallpaper:

• Repair any holes or imperfections and remove any loose paint.
• Remove any sharp bumps or debris that could show through the wallpaper.
• Make sure your walls are clean by wiping them down thoroughly with a solution of water and isopropyl alcohol.
• If your walls were recently painted or primed, allow at least 30 days for the paint to fully cure before installing wallpaper.

Taking a little extra time to properly prepare your walls will help ensure the best possible adhesion and finished appearance.

Our Traditional Wallpaper is an unpasted wallcovering that is installed using wallpaper paste.

Professional installation is recommended, as the installation process includes techniques such as applying paste, booking the wallpaper, double cutting, and aligning the pattern to achieve a beautiful, seamless finish.

If you're planning to install it yourself, we recommend reviewing our installation instructions thoroughly and prepping your wall properly before beginning your project.

Not necessarily—it depends on the wallpaper material you choose and your comfort level with DIY projects.

Many homeowners successfully install our Luxury Peel & Stick Wallpaper themselves.

For Traditional Wallpaper and Faux Grasscloth, we generally recommend hiring a professional installer to achieve the best double-cut lines and the most seamless finish.

If you're an experienced DIYer, Traditional Wallpaper can be installed yourself with the proper tools, knowledge, and preparation. 

We do not recommend installing Traditional Wallpaper or Faux Grasscloth if you’re a beginner.

Yes. All materials an be peeled back and repositioned as needed.

Our Luxury Peel & Stick Wallpaper is designed to be repositioned during installation, making it easier to achieve proper alignment. If a panel isn't perfectly placed, simply peel it back slowly and reposition it as needed. The premium woven material resists stretching, helping maintain proper pattern alignment throughout installation.

Our Traditional Wallpaper and Faux Grasscloth is applied with a paste and can be moved gently on the wall until your pattern matches, or pulled back and repositioned as needed.

Yes! Many of our customers successfully install wallpaper themselves.

Our Luxury Peel & Stick Wallpaper is especially DIY-friendly and designed for easy installation on properly prepared walls.

Our Traditional Wallpaper and Faux Grasscloth require wallpaper paste and additional techniques such as booking and double cutting. While experienced DIYers can install them, professional installation is recommended for the best results—especially in large rooms, on ceilings, around fixed items like bathroom vanities, or in intricate spaces.

Every wallpaper order includes installation instructions to help ensure a successful installation!

If you'd prefer to hire a professional installer, we're happy to help!

Ayara works with wallpaper installers in select areas and continues to expand our installer network. If we don't currently have an installer in your area, we recommend contacting your local paint or wallpaper retailer, such as Sherwin-Williams, for referrals to experienced professional wallpaper installers.

Make sure to choose a professional with extensive wallpaper-specific experience. You can ask them what experience they have with double cutting as a start!

All wallpaper will have seams, but proper installation helps make them as subtle as possible.

For the best results:

• Carefully align each panel during installation.
• Use a new, sharp blade for clean trimming.
• Follow the recommended installation instructions for your wallpaper material.

Patterns with darker backgrounds or Faux Grasscloth textures may have seams that are slightly more noticeable than lighter or busier patterns. Some wallpaper installers will carefully paint or chalk the edges of the wallpaper with a coordinating darker color to make the white edges less visible. In most rooms, seams become much less noticeable when viewed from a normal distance.

The tools you'll need depend on which wallpaper material you're installing.

For Luxury Peel & Stick Wallpaper, we recommend:

• application tool

• Level or laser level
• Measuring tape
• Pencil
• Microfiber cloth
• Isopropyl alcohol and water for cleaning the walls

For Traditional Wallpaper, you'll also need:

• Wallpaper paste
• Paste brush or roller
• Smoothing tool
• Seam roller (if recommended by your installer)
• Sponge and clean water
• Trim guide
• Sharp utility knife with extra blades

Using the proper tools will help ensure a beautiful finished installation.

Very few walls are perfectly straight, level, or square—especially in older homes. This is completely normal and is something professional wallpaper installers account for during installation.

When measuring, measure the width of your walls near the top and bottom and use the larger measurement.

If you're concerned, add a little extra material to your order to allow for trimming and minor adjustments. We recommend adding 4 inches to both the width and height of your wall before using our wallpaper calculator.

Yes. Our wallpaper designs are printed at the same starting point with the same part of the pattern at the top of each panel. This allows the pattern to flow seamlessly from one panel to the next, creating one continuous design across your wall.

For murals and A/B panels, install the panels in the order they are labeled and carefully align the pattern before permanently smoothing each panel into place.

Yes, you can place an additional order at any time, but it's important to know that ordering all of your wallpaper at once is recommended industry-wide.

Because of different material dye lots and printing processes, slight color variations can occur between different print runs. To ensure the best color consistency across your project, we recommend ordering all of the wallpaper you'll need at the same time whenever possible.

If you think you may need additional wallpaper in the future, we recommend ordering a little extra now to ensure the closest possible color match.

Yes. Ordering all of your wallpaper at once is recommended industry-wide. We highly recommend ordering all of the wallpaper needed for your project at the same time.

While we make every effort to maintain color consistency, slight color variations between print runs can occur because of material dye lots. Ordering everything together helps ensure your wallpaper is produced from the same lot and print run for the most consistent color throughout your project.

Our wallpaper is sold by the panel rather than by the roll. This approach helps reduce both waste and cost, benefiting both the environment and our clients!

Each panel is custom printed for your order, making it easy to purchase the exact quantity needed for your space. Simply enter your wall measurements into the wallpaper calculator on the product page to determine the correct number of panels for your project.

Our wallpaper performs best on smooth, properly prepared walls with a high-quality primer or paint.

For paint: Most eggshell, satin, or matte finishes work well once they have fully cured. We generally recommend avoiding glossy finishes unless they have been properly prepared, as they can reduce adhesion.

For Luxury Peel & Stick Wallpaper: It’s important to choose a paint that does not contain excessive stain blockers, as these can interfere with the adhesive's ability to bond properly to the wall. If your wall is currently painted with a paint like this, you will need to prime the wall first and allow it to cure before applying your wallpaper.

Please remember that most paints and primers must be allowed to cure for 30 days before installation. However, some wallpaper primers require only 24 hours of cure time, which can help speed up your project timeline.

It depends on your wall’s condition and finish. Priming helps create a uniform surface, improves adhesion, and can make future wallpaper removal easier.

Our wallpaper performs best on smooth, properly prepared surfaces that have been coated with a high-quality primer or paint. Clean, well-maintained walls with eggshell, satin, or matte finishes are ideal.

Glossy finishes can reduce adhesion unless they are properly prepped. For Peel & Stick wallpaper, avoid paints with heavy stain blockers as they may interfere with adhesion. Use an appropriate primer if needed.

New drywall, patched areas, or heavily repaired surfaces should always be primed to promote better adhesion and make future removal easier.

When in doubt, apply a primer over your surface and allow it to fully cure before installing your wallpaper. We recommend using a wallpaper primer that only requires 24 hours of cure time to keep your project on schedule!

It depends on the amount and type of texture.

Our wallpaper performs best on smooth walls, but many customers have success installing it over light orange peel or light knockdown texture.

For any other textured wall or rough surface, we recommend skim coating and sanding the wall smooth before installation.

Because every wall is different, ordering a sample is the best way to see how the wallpaper performs on your specific surface before purchasing a full order.

Yes. Before beginning installation, carefully inspect all wallpaper panels to ensure you have received the correct design, material, quantity, color, and that there are no visible defects, damage, or quality issues.

We also recommend laying the panels out in order and confirming that the pattern alignment meets your expectations before applying adhesive or installing any panels.

Once wallpaper has been installed, it is considered accepted, so taking a few minutes to inspect your order beforehand can help prevent installation issues.

Yes! Our Luxury Peel & Stick Wallpaper, Traditional Wallpaper, and Faux Grasscloth can all be installed on ceilings. However, we recommend Traditional Wallpaper or Faux Grasscloth (both applied with a permanent paste) whenever possible to ensure proper long-term adhesion.

As with walls, proper surface preparation is essential for the best results.

Yes! Wallpaper can be a beautiful addition to a laundry room.

As with bathrooms and other humid spaces, proper ventilation is important. Our Traditional Wallpaper is often the preferred choice for laundry rooms because of its durability and beautiful, long-lasting finish.

If you're considering our Luxury Peel & Stick Wallpaper in a laundry room, we recommend testing a sample first to ensure it performs well on your walls.

Absolutely! Wallpaper is a wonderful way to add personality and warmth to a nursery.

All of our wallpapers are proudly printed in the USA using GREENGUARD Gold certified, low-VOC inks that are odor-free and safe for homes.

As always, we recommend installing wallpaper on properly prepared walls and allowing freshly painted or primed walls to cure for at least 30 days before installation.

We do not recommend installing wallpaper around a fireplace. If you are considering this as an option, it is important to consult the fireplace manufacturer’s guidelines and a qualified professional before proceeding to ensure safety and compliance with local building codes.

Wallpaper can be used in some kitchen areas, but we generally advise caution, especially in spaces exposed to heat, grease, and moisture.

Due to the challenges of cleaning and maintaining wallpaper in these conditions, we do not typically recommend installing it behind backsplashes or near stoves. These areas are prone to splashes and buildup that can be difficult to remove without damaging the material.

For best results, consider limiting wallpaper to lower-risk areas of the kitchen that are less exposed to cooking-related wear and tear.

We do not recommend installing new wallpaper over existing wallpaper.

For the best adhesion and and a smooth professional-looking finish, existing wallpaper should be removed and the wall properly cleaned and repaired before install installing new wallpaper.

Installing over existing wallpaper can lead to poor adhesion, visible seams, and imperfections showing through the new wallpaper. Taking time to properly prepare your walls will help ensure the best long-term results.

Yes! Our Luxury Peel & Stick Wallpaper is an excellent choice for renters because it is designed to remove cleanly from properly prepared, fully cured painted walls.

As with any removable wallcovering, removal depends on the condition of the walls, the quality of the paint, and how well the paint has adhered to the surface before installation.

If you're renting, we always recommend testing one of our samples first to ensure it performs well on your specific walls.

All wallpaper is custom printed to order, with production beginning as soon as your order is placed. Please allow 7–10 business days for printing before your order ships.

Standard orders are shipped via UPS Ground and you'll receive a confirmation email with tracking details as soon as your order is on its way.

We recommend scheduling your wallpaper installation approximately 3–4 weeks after placing your order to ensure timely delivery.

For all other products, processing typically takes 1–3 business days prior to shipment. If your order includes multiple items, they may ship separately and arrive at different times.

Yes! Once your order ships, you'll automatically receive a shipping confirmation email that includes your tracking information.

Please note that tracking updates are provided by the shipping carrier and may take up to 24 hours after your order has shipped to begin displaying movement.

Please note that expedited shipping is available for wallpaper panels only and does not apply to other Ayara products.

As soon as your wallpaper sample order ships, you'll receive a shipping confirmation email with a tracking link so you can follow your shipment's progress. Samples are sent via USPS Ground Advantage and typically arrive within 2–5 business days.

If your tracking shows that your samples have been delivered but you can't locate them, we recommend checking around your mailbox, porch, or other common delivery areas. Our samples are shipped in a 9” x 12” flat mailer and can occasionally be overlooked.

If you still can't locate your samples, we recommend contacting your local USPS. They may be able to locate your shipment or provide additional information about the delivery.

After that, we recommend allowing an additional 1–2 business days as packages occasionally turn up shortly after a delivery inquiry is made. Then if your samples still haven't arrived, please email us at hello@ayarahome.com with your order number and we'll be happy to look into it and help get replacement samples on their way if needed!

Because every wallpaper order is custom printed to order, changes or cancellations can only be made before production begins.

If you need to update or cancel your order, please contact us as soon as possible. Once production has started, we are unable to make changes or cancel the order.

It’s rare, but if your wallpaper was damaged during shipment, or if you notice a manufacturing defect, email us at hello@ayarahome.com as soon as possible. Please include your order number, along with photos of the damaged product and damaged packaging so our team can quickly review the issue.

We'll work with you to resolve the problem as quickly as possible!

Wallpaper: Because each wallpaper order is custom printed specifically for your project, we do not accept returns or exchanges.

All Other Products: We accept returns of unopened and unused items within 30 days of purchase, provided they are in their original packaging. To initiate a return, please email hello@ayarahome.com and include your order number in the subject line. If your return is approved, you will receive instructions on how to send your items back. Once we receive your return, a refund will be issued to your original payment method within 1–3 business days. Please note that items returned without prior authorization will not be accepted.

Damages & Defects: If your order arrives damaged or has a manufacturing defect, please contact us promptly. Our team will work with you to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.
